Perth Mint 2015 Australian Lunar Year of the Goat Silver & Gold Coins Revealed

Perth Mint 2015 Lunar Goat Coins
Images of the Perth Mint 2015 Lunar Year of the Goat Coins have finally been revealed (click to enlarge):

Here is a written preview and thoughts on the designs I provided at BullionBaron.com in an article published yesterday 'Lunar Maa-aadness with 2015 Year of the Goat Coins':
Perth Mint 2015 Silver Lunar Goat Design: The design follows the styling cues of the 2014 Lunar Horse Coin with the leaves and branches of a tree bordering the top left hand side of the coin. There are some grass patches. There are 3 goats pictured all with long hair, two have their heads up and one has it's head down presumably eating some grass. Overall I think it's a solid design, I prefer it over the Perth Mint's 2003 Silver Goat Coin. Animal hair can be one of the most difficult elements to capture in a coin and it will be difficult to tell how well Perth Mint have done with this coin until seen in the flesh, but certainly the computer generated images give the indication they've done well to portray the long hair.

Perth Mint 2015 Gold Lunar Goat Design: This design illustrates a shorter haired mountain goat atop a rocky landscape with mountains in the background. The rocky foreground is quite detailed with the mountainous background pictured in a much simpler form. I think the backdrop on this coin lets down the design somewhat, I would have preferred to see detailed mountains as we saw on the Perth Mint's Gold Lunar Horse Coins last year. Overall I still think it's a good design and prefer it over the Perth Mint 2003 Gold Goat Coin.
The release dates are below as previously detailed on this site.

Thank so much for this update. I have been anxiously awaiting the new lunar goat by the Perth Mint. Nice coins. While I truly like the series 2 lunar coins, the more I see of them the more I come to appreciate how truly beautiful the Series 1 lunar coins were. But, these are very nice and I look forward to adding them to my collection. Thanks for the photos!

I don't like the designs, or their choice to go the goat route rather than the Ram route. I'm sure the actual coins will look better but I'm happy enough with the various lunar horse designs to keep me satisfied for at least another year!

The Series 1 lunar coins definitely had a much simpler design and did have their own charm due to this.

Likewise Silver Siren, can still see bullion dealers with 1oz silver horses for reasonable prices, plan to stock up on more of these until I get some goats.

Hi, Any information on if they are going to make the Silver Goat Bullion coin in the colorized version? I have the the Lunar Series 2 set all in Colorized so far and hope they continue to finish the set in this version. Please any info will make me feel great, Im kind of freaking out over here. Thanks!

I haven't yet heard anything about the coloured versions, but they don't usually have an announced release date like the standard bullion and proof coins. I would be very surprised if they didn't continue with them, may be a few months away though.

Hi, Would love to know if The Perth Mint will be releasing a Coloured Silver Bullion Lunar Series 2 Goat Coin (NOT PROOF VERSION) or if they will not? I love the set and have them all coloured but have not heard anything on the goat coloured....PLEASE HELP!

You could send them an email to check info@perthmint.com.au but usually they don't start being advertised by dealers until this time of the year, so they aren't that late yet. Likely on the way.

Great, I will be doing that. Thanks!
